      Make sure you are adding random controller under 2d category. also check if your curve name appears on the button of curve controller , if not then press that button and pick your curve again and press apply again (or may be a preview before apply )

      I do exactly the same but when I hit apply, my trees ( spheres ) are not following the spline. Just straight!

      Did I miss something`?
